Lucy has taken on a new consultancy role as Place Vision Strategist for Meridian Water, Enfield Council's flagship regeneration development. Her commission includes creating a Meridian Water Placebook which will clearly articulate what will define the neighbourhood, being released in phases over 20 years, in the years to come, and The Meridian Water Place Vision video, produced by Pal.tv, for MIPIM, 14-16 March 2017 and the Meridian Water website.
The Meridian Water Place Vision video
The Meridian Water Place Vision video, launched at MIPIM, illuminates the ambitions for Meridian Water. Led by Enfield Council, it is a major mixed use, inclusive and sustainable regenerative de-velopment being realised in phases over the next 20 years in Edmonton, in the south-east of the borough of Enfield, next door to the beautiful green spaces and waterways of the Upper Lea Valley. Supported by new drone footage of the site and its environs made by Neil Simpson, the video conveys Meridian Water's groundbreaking nature, founded on Enfield's first class public sector vision and leadership. In line with the aims of the Meridian Water Place Vision programme, the video also communicates the value of the highest calibre of architecture, urban and landscape design and placemaking in contributing to quality of life.
The Meridian Water Place Vision video captures highlights of the scheme's cross-sector innovation in creative industries, the vision for jobs and entrepreneurship in the future neighbourhood, and ambitions for a strong community legacy for this part of north London. It is based on a range of new to-camera interviews with key representatives of Enfield Council, the initiators and leaders of Meridian Water, the development partners Barratt London, and the award-winning architects and master planners Karakusevic Carson Architects. Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, is also interviewed, visiting the site on 26 Jan 2017.
The line up also showcases Building BloQs, the open access workshop and ACAVA, the art organisation, and their founders. They will occupy and steer Meridian Works, the versatile open access workshop/enterprise hub opening at Meridian Water in spring 2017. Scenes at the new Me-ridian Angel Primary School, which opened at Meridian Water in Dec 2016, are included. The video also features highlights of an interview with a member of the senior management of the regeneration team at GLA, an expert on the bonds between creative industries and placemaking, themes of high priority to Meridian Water. GLA provided match funding for Meridian Works, an example of the imaginative reuse of industrial warehouses, designed by Karakusevic Carson Architects.
